How to Keep Feet Warm While Skiing

You love to ski! We can’t say we blame you. But if keeping your feet warm while skiing is a problem, we’re here to help you solve it! That’w why we’ve compiled this list of seven ways to keep feet warm while skiing.

1. Avoid CottonHow to Keep Feet Warm While Skiing: 7 Tips

Cotton doesn’t do such a great job when it gets wet. Whether your feet get sweaty or if your socks somehow get wet from the snow, you don’t want that. Cold feet are no fun when you’re trying to enjoy a day on the slopes!

2. Choose Wool

Wool socks regulate temperatures better than cotton. Make sure you find a kind that is itch free, or you’re going to spend too much time stopping to scratch. A merino wool option might be your best bet. Wool absorbs AND repels water, so it’s basically the magical fabric for your feet. This is key to helping keep feet warm while skiing!

3. Make Sure Your Socks Fit

This one seems a little obvious, but many people buy socks that are too big for their shoes. Take your ski boots and try them out with your socks on. You should still be able to wiggle your toes when they’re inside the shoe. If you can’t, try another pair.

4. Try a Different Sock

Some people just have chronically cold feet – even when they’re not skiing. If that’s the case for you, consider liner socks. They’ll add an additional layer so you should be warmer. Keep trying different styles and brands until you find something that works well. Even bring a few different pairs with you on the mountain. That way you can find out what works best for you and stick with it!

5. Get Toe Warmers

Many people enjoy using hand warmers, but the same goes for your toes! If you’re someone who knows your toes are going to get cold, invest in some of these little beauties. They’ll make your feet stay plenty warm, and you’ll be able to enjoy your day on the slopes that much longer.

6. Avoid Caffeine and Nicotine

Both caffeine and nicotine can cause blood vessels to constrict. This, in turn, limits blood flow which could cause your feet to get even colder. Opt for a caffeine free coffee or hot chocolate when you want to warm up. You’ll get that warm beverage you’ve been craving without causing yourself even more problems the next time down the hill.

7. Bring Extra Socks

The last thing you want while trying to enjoy a day full of skiing or snowboarding is cold, wet feet. It’ll make you miserable! Bring along an extra pair or two of socks. It will be worth the hassle to change them at some point during the day than to deal with the cold the entire time.
